Fantastic Product

I didn't stumble into a life of making pizzas, I was born into it. My parents owned a pizzeria in Western New York when I was born. I owned an Italian restaurant and pizzeria in Missoula MT for 25 Years and partnered with a couple of friends on a take out and delivery pizza business for another 10. Needless to say, I know Pizza. I did a lot of research before purchasing this oven. The one issue that I came across that held true for me as well as the person that had posted it, the bottom Stone gets too hot and the top can't compete with it. I had the same thing happen when I had deck ovens in my downtown pizzeria and we put a pizza screen between the dough and the stone. It solved the problem. We did the same here and it solved the problem. Pizza is cooking about three and a half minutes to a golden brown perfection. I would recommend this oven to anybody for ease of use and a consistently fine product. BBQ Guys shipped promptly to the point where I actually got it a week ahead of schedule. Great job all the way around. One piece of advice, when using Pizza screens oil them before use.

I did 3 weeks of research...

We are indeed lucky that there are so many choices these days for portable pizza ovens. The flip side is that it's difficult to research and make a decision. My daughter asked me which one I wanted for my 70th birthday present so I began the arduous task of finding just the right one for me. I went through the usual questions - size, wood-pellet-gas, temperature, portability, warranty, etc. First, don't go too small. 16" is perfect, and make sure the aperture is big enough to maneuver the launch. Second, I thought I might like the romance of a wood fire, but realized that paying attention to the pizza itself, as well as my guests, and a glass of wine, was enough without tending to a fire. Third, a rotating stone is a must, and having a second burner of radiant heat under the stone is essential. I had it down to 2 ovens. One had dual heating from gas, wood, or both used together (quite unique), and the other (a Halo Versa 16) had gas with the rotating stone and 2 burners. I decided the Halo was the easiest and most convenient to use - especially since virtually every oven review I read talked about the learning curve. The Halo Versa 16 essentially eliminates all the learning curves and bakes a beautiful pie EVERY TIME. Furthermore, the engineers synchronized and sized the burners so the ambient temp in the oven is about 900 degrees and the stone stays at a constant and reliable 750 - and it heats up FAST! Also, you don't have to move the pie around during the cooking process because the rotating stone does it for you. The customer contact (thank you Rachel) is very accessible, knowledgeable, and patient, AND there is a 5-year warranty. I am so happy with this oven (you can probably tell) that we sit and watch it like a movie. Actually it's imperative to watch because a 12" pizza cooks in less than 3 minutes. If you love pizza like I do, this oven will fulfill your dreams...

Love it. First pizza came out really good. Did not have an infrared thermometer to check temp. so pizza took 3.5 minutes. Probably did not allow enough time to preheat as I was excited to get the pizza in the oven. Seems solid and love the rotating stone and burner underneath. Can't wait for the next pizza or calzone.

5 Stars all the way!

Bought this as a gift for a pizza fanatic (very serious about his dough, hydration, toppings, etc) that owns 2 other portable pizza ovens that are on stands and heavy and not easy to bring places. This Halo pizza oven is awesome! It's portable and doesn't get hot on the outside, so you can put it on a table and when you're done you don't have to wait hours for it to cool down to move it. It works perfect, the pizza stone turns - can use battery power or electricity for it and it cooks the bottom and the top of the pizza evenly. Great pizza oven, highly recommend it. He loves it and it honestly it does a better job than the other 2 pizza ovens that he has.

Versa 16 Pizza Oven

The first chance I got to use this I was able to use it side by side with 2 other popular pizza oven brands. Immediately the first thing I noticed was how much sharper the Halo looked compared to the others. It looked like a tank beside the other ovens. Then, the moment I pressed the button to make the stone spin it was the mic drop in front of the other ovens. The rest of this night I got to watch as the other ovens were a non stop battle of constant spinning in order to not burn the pizza inside it. All I had to do was pop it in and press the button. No need to worry about burning or cooking unevenly. This thing was beyond easy to use and makes pizza making (which can seem a little daunting) something simple that you can master on the first try. If you are in the market for a pizza oven, I promise you won't go wrong with this one.

Finally! The Real Deal!

Been thinking about getting a pizza oven for quite a while. I actually owned my own pizza restaurant for 5 years making NY pies and Chicago Deep Dish Pies. My recipes. So I know a thing or two about pizzas. Plus I've eaten more pies around the world than I can remember. So I am a pizza nut. But believe it or not, I'm not a big fan of neopolitan style pizza. Sure Ive eaten a ton, but not crazy about the excessive char and they are to soggy in the middle and the toppings really dont cook because they are only in the oven for 90 seconds. I like a pie with a crisp crust yet soft inside with a full dark bake but not burnt and where the toppings get carmelized and cooked. And of course my Chicago deep dish is a deep and buttery yet light crust stuffed with amazing pre sauted ingredients. But enough of my past. Now to my future of home pizza! So all of these wood fired and gas fired 900 degree pizza ovens for the home are designed for Neapolitan style pies. They cook and burn the pie so fast its really hard to use and really only good for neopalitan style pies. Not what I wanted. But finally, Halo comes out with an oven that seems like the perfect one. Adjustable temp , curved back burner to cover the pie as it cooks... and the secret is the super burner under the pizza stone that TURNS! It evenly heats the stone from underneath now giving you perfect top and bottom cook, just the way the pro ovens do it! This is how you get an even bake on the bottom and the top! Will it work the way I hoped? Well im only 3 pies in with a fairly basic thin style crust to start. And they were PERFECT! No need to rotate constantly like all the other ovens, the motorized stone does it for you. Larger pie opening is much better as it's easier in and out and you can make a larger pizza too. Build quality is first rate on this oven. This thing was packed with more protective foam and cardbord than I've ever seen. So no damage to the unit even though the box had some gouges in it. Fit and finish is top notch. While made in China, you can tell this was designed here by folks who really thought it thru. I cant wait to get into my old recipes and make my NY dough and my deep dish dough and my new Detroit pies in this thing. I'm pretty sure with the temp controls I can make it all work and get a great bake on them. For sure way better than in a home oven which cant get hot enough to do it right. (600 degrees is the temp my pizza place used to cook the NY pies) so this one goes higher to give you even more options. If you have been thinking about getting an outdoor pizza oven this it the one. I can tell you from my real experience using classic pizza stone gas deck ovens ( the way a pizza should be cooked) that this is as close as you are gonna get at home that I have seen. Just giving you my one photo on my first pie ( and again this was a basic dough recipe that a only had a 2 hour rise) as I wanted to see how it did on the most basic pie and it was a winner. Ohhh and the accessory kit with the peels and boards and cutter are also brilliantly done and really well made quality stuff. Quite great how the spatula acts as the holder for the boards and peel. I recommend this for sure and the cover which fits like a glove. All in all I couldn't be happier and am looking forward to making lots of great and different pies in this oven along with trying other types of items too. I can tell this is a versatile unit and the top and bottom adjustable heat and rotating stone is the reason why. Nice job Halo and thank you for making my pizza dreams come back to life after my selling my restaurant which I do miss.

Hi RICK. Cookware up to 12-inches in diameter can be used on the HALO Versa. HALO suggests using one side of the rotating stone for pizzas, etc. The other side used for other foods and cookware. Please keep in mind that the stone turns on a battery powered motor.
